Gill fires Navy to another win

KARACHI: Midfielder Nomi Martin Gill scored a brace on Friday, 18 Nov 2011, to guide Navy to an easy 3-1 win over Baloch FC in their PPFL match at the Municipal Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Navy drew first blood just on the half-hour mark thanks to Gill. The first-half ended 1-0 as both teams failed to convert their chances.

However, the second period was far more entertaining. Mohammad Ramzan doubled Navy’s lead in the 58 minute and that caused a little more urgency among Baloch FC’s players, who responded with a 69th-minute equaliser from Najeebullah.

There were few anxious moments for both side but Gill came to haunt his opponents once again as he sealed victory with a killer goal just eight minutes from time.

Meanwhile, Muslim FC edged Pakistan Air Force (PAF) 2-1 at the same venue despite being a goal down.

Amir Hussain struck in the 39 minute to give edge to PAF but their happiness was limited to first half.

The second half belonged to Muslim FC as Mohammad Rafique scored in the 52 minute to level the match.

Muslim FC pressed hard after lifted spirits and were rewarded for their efforts just six minutes later as they took the lead with a goal from Mohammad Hanif. The game ended with the similar score.
