FC Rovers get first win in KUFL 2011-12

The 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League 2011-12 saw FC Rovers (Malir Cantt) finally register their first win of the campaign after they beat Islah Baloch FC (Old Golimar) 2-1 yesterday, 22 November 2011, at Korangi Baloch Stadium in Sharafi.

FC Rovers made their chances count early on in the game. Right winger Saad Amjad beat two players to gift an easy finish for Waqar Hussain to score from and give Rovers a 1-0 lead after just 16 minutes. 11 minutes later, Waqar Hussain’s pass found Raad us Salam who made it 2-0 for Rovers. In 2nd half, Islah Baloch attempted to make amends but strikers Abdul Qadir, Nasir Ismail, M Saleem, and Salman Noor failed to overcome Rovers defence of Farrukh Riaz, Usama Noor, and goalie Rashid Khan early on.

Abdul Qadir struck the crossbar in 53rd minute before eventually scoring 5 minutes later to make it 2-1. Rovers had the chance to kill off the game in final moments of match but Irfan Junejo, Hamza Shahid, and Raad us Salam missed some glorious chances as their side stuck on with a 2-1 win in the end after starting the campaign with 3 successive losses. Islah Baloch are on 4 points from 4 games. Referees were M Tahir, Abdul Wahid, Saeed Alam, and match commissioner Abdul Karim.

The match was attended by renowned Karachi football organiser Baby Feroz as chief guest and met both teams at half time. On Thursday, 24 Nov, Baloch Mohammadan face Muslim Star at Korangi Baloch Stadium, while Karachi United face Korangi Baloch at Baloch Mujahid Stadium.
