Muslim beat PIA, KRL held by PAF

KARACHI: Muslim FC on Tuesday pulled off another surprise when they stunned Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) 1-0 while Pakistan Air Force (PAF) held leaders Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) to a 1-1 draw in matches of the 8th Pakistan Premier Football League held at different venues of the country on Tuesday, 18 Oct 2011.

At the Sadiq Shaheed Stadium in Quetta, PIA suffered a defeat, their fifth, at the hands of Chaman’s Muslim which has dented their otherwise brilliant run in the season as they are left with 36 points from 19 games, still having a little edge over Muslim FC on a goal-difference at the second place. After a barren but action-packed first half, Mohammad Hanif scored the lone goal for Muslim FC on a rebound in the 51st minute.

PIA coach Shamim Khan blamed poor refereeing and bad ground condition for his team’s loss. Meanwhile, at the Municipal Stadium in Rawalpindi, KRL had to share points with their rivals for the second time in the season when they played a 1-1 draw against PAF.

With the single point, the prospective champions KRL inflated their tally to 41 from 15 matches while PAF moved to 11 points from 15 appearances.

Kamran put KRL in front in the 20th minute before U16 international star Mansoor Khan earned an equaliser for PAF in the 54th minute. In another match held in Quetta, Habib Bank were also stunned with a goalless draw by Nushki’s Baloch FC.
