KRL stretch PPFL lead with 2-1 win

KARACHI: Title favourites Research Laboratories (KRL) extended their lead at the top spot after inflicting a 2-1 defeat on Pakistan Air Force (PAF) while Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) snatched a 1-0 victory against Nushki’s Baloch FC in matches of the 8th Pakistan Premier Football League held at different venues of the country on Friday, 21 Oct 2011.

At the Municipal Stadium in Rawalpindi, KRL, who were held to a 1-1 draw by PAF in their home mid-week game at the same venue, played well to raise their points tally to 44 from 16 matches. The loss left PAF struggling at 11 points from 16 appearances.

Rizwan Asif put KRL 2-0 ahead with goals in the 22nd and 34th minute before Mohammad Aamir hit one back for PAF in the 42nd minute. After the breather, tough fight was witnessed with KRL had a better ball possession but failed to add to their tally.

Meanwhile, at the Sadiq Shaheed Stadium in Quetta, KESC had to face tough resistance before beating Baloch FC with a slender margin to elevate to the third place with 37 points from 20 games. Abdul Rehman scored the winner for KESC in the seventh minute. As usual, KESC frontline once again squandered a host of chances in the second half. Baloch FC are struggling with 13 points from 17 matches.
