Karachi Football Round-up

The District Malir Football Championship saw the results of 3 games played at various venues across Malir, Karachi on 10 Oct 2011. At Al-Shazad Stadium in Jam Kunda, minnows Bawan Shah Welfare (Malir City) shocked a strong Adil Sports (Wali Muhammad Goth) 1-0 thanks to a 69th minute goal goal from Zohaib Shah. At Gul Baloch Ground in Malir, Malir Star edged past a valiant Khokhra Par National side 1-0 thanks to a late goal from veteran striker and Karachi United FC Academy coach Lal Muhammad Jangal.

The Korangi Baloch Stadium in Sharafi saw Baloch Star (Malir) overwhelm Bilal Mujahid (Landhi) 4-0. Bashir Ahmed scored twice while Nazar Muhammad and Aqeel scored once each for Baloch Star. The referees were M Umar, Aziz Pasha, and Abdul Latif Baloch, with match commissioners Wali Muhammad Baloch, Comrade Gul Muhammad, and Capt Aziz.

The All Sindh-Balochistan Ada Sher Muhammad Baloch Memorial Football Tournament, being held at Pak Baloch Ground in Garden West – Karachi, saw the results of 5 matches. Parwana Sports (Old Golimar) beat Sarhad Sports (Landhi) 1-0 through a goal from Sarfraz. Askani Brothers (Baldia Town) beat Noorani Sports (Old Golimar) 3-2, with a brace from Jalal and one from Bahadur for winning side, while Arslan and Faisal scored for losing side.

Bawan Shah Welfare Centre (Malir City) beat Gharib Shah Union (Lyari) 1-0 with a goal from Abdul Khaliq. Mauripur Greeks beat former Sports 360 Champions Sharafi Mohammadan 2-0 thanks to goals for Afsar and Musa. Current Karachi Football League champions Baloch Youth FC (Garden, Karachi) was awarded a walkover after Pak Johar (Qasba Colony) failed to show up for match on time. All winning sides went through to next round.

On Wednesday 12 Oct 2011, Baloch Union (Jehangir Road) face Frontier City (Banaras).

Mother of Karachi DFA East vice-president Zameer ul Islam passed away after a prolonged illness. The deceased was buried at Saudabad graveyard in Karachi. Many football officials from across Karachi offered their condolences and prayers for the departed soul and the grieving family.
