Karachi Football Round-up

The opening 4 fixtures of the District Malir Football Championship took place today 10 Oct 2011 at 4 different venues across Malir in Karachi.

At Gul Baloch Ground, Malir Reds beat Mehran Sports 5-3 thanks to a hat-trick by Farhan, while Arshad and Aziz scored once each. Abdur Rauf and Rafique scored for Mehran Sports. At Korangi Baloch Ground in Sharafi, Sharafi Mohammadan beat Zeeshan Sports (Landhi) 2-1. Shahid and Wahid Bakhsh scored for Sharafi Mohammadan while Hafeez scored lone goal for Zeeshan Sports.

At Shafi XI Ground in Quaidabad, Jalandhar Sports whooped Rafique Shaheed 5-0 thanks to 4 goals from Shakeel and one from Ali. Al-Shabaz Stadium in Jam Kunda saw Muhammadi Sports beat Hikmat Star 2-1 with goals from Manzoor, while Nasir scored for losing side.

Referees were M Umar, Aziz Pasha, Ishaq Usman, and Abdul Latif.

The Karachi Sports Football Ground (Khajji Ground) in District Central saw Nawab XI beat fellow Lyari side Baloch Mohammadan 1-0 to win the All-Karachi IG Sindh Peace Football Cup. Muhammad Wasim scored the lone goal in final for Nawab XI. Baloch Mohammadan captain Gul Mohammad was judged player of the tournament. National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) sports consultant Ghulam Muhammad Khan and Karachi Sports officials were organisers for the tournament.

IG Police Sindh, Wajid Ali Durrani, was chief guest for the final and handed out prizes and trophies to the finalists worth Rs 15,000 for winners and Rs 10,000 for losing side. Apart from presence of high ranking Police officials at the game, also present were FPDC Karachi correspondent and journalist Riaz Ahmed, Sindh FA secretary Jan Muhammad Baloch, ex-international and DFA Central vice president Saleem Patni, M Shamim, Nasir Ali, and others.

16 teams took part in the IG Sindh Peace Cup from across Karachi in a knock-out format. In semis, Nawab XI beat Burma Mohammadan (Korangi) 1-0 while Baloch Mohammadan beat Hyderi Baloch (Lyari) 2-0 to reach the final.

The Baloch Mujahid Stadum in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi saw former Karachi Football League champs Shazad Mohammadan (Malir) beat Kalmat Welfare Centre 3-1 to go through to next round of All-Karachi Founders of Baloch Mujahid Memorial Cup. Adil (4′), M Asghar (50′) and Muhammad Irani (56′) scored for Shazad Mohammadan, while Asghar Hussain (28′) scored for Kalmat Welfare Centre.

Referees were Shaukat Ali, Iqrar Hussain, and Chaudhry Sarfraz, while match commissioner was Najeeb Baloch. On Tuesday, DFA Malir champs All Brothers face fellow Malir side Dilbod Mohammadan.
