On 2nd October the two Semi Finals of the Gulshan Soccer Academy (GSA) D-Goal Tournament finally took place after long delays because of heavy monsoon rain in Karachi. It was no surprise as early tournament favorites Bafana who are also the defending champions made the final to be played against the inform team of Karachi, Rebellions.
Bafana beat Young Stars 3-0 in first semi, while Rebellions overcame Free Stylers 2-0 in 2nd semi.
In the first semi final Young Stars started brightly but a wonder goal by Kashif Zafar who is also the top scorer of the tournament gave Bafana the lead. It was fairly comfortable for Bafana and as soon as the 2nd half started Ali Hassan showed his golden first touch. He scored with his first touch after tough work from Kashif Ali. Bafana survived some good attacks from the Young Stars side before finally wrapping it up as Kashif Ali scored the third and finished off the tie. 3-0 the final score.
In the second semi final, Rebellions and Free Stylers started slowly and cautiously. Mehtab did provide the sparks which were matched by the brilliance of Kami. It took a good part of the second half before finally Kami produced on of the goals of the tournament. He Dribbled past the defender but at the last moment he produced a brilliant roll to take it past the last men and drive it into the empty net. Finally a quick counter broke Free Stylers heart as Rebellions built a comfortable two nil lead. Therefore this gave way to the brilliant final between the two best teams of the tournament. Tough day for Mehtab as he provided the shot of the day with Kami.
Therefore its the goals of Kashif Zafar vs the skill of Kami. The toughness of Kashif Ali vs the Brawn of Hashim. Therefore a great final is on the cards on Saturday 8th October.
