AKG, Korangi Baloch, Baloch Youth open KUFL campaigns with heavy wins

The 9th Karachi United Football League 2011-12 witnessed the results of 4 interesting matches yesterday on Saturday, 30 Oct 2011. In Group ‘A’, Aga Khan Gymkhana (Garden West) came from 0-3 down to beat FC Rovers (Malir) 5-3 in a stunning comeback. Defending champions Baloch Youth FC (Garden) hammered Usmanabad Union 6-0. While in Group ‘B’, Korangi Baloch (Sharafi) humiliated Muslim Star (Korangi) 8-0. At the same day, Kalri Star (Lyari) held Islah Baloch (Old Golimar) 1-1.

The Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground in Garden West, Karachi witnessed two games. Aga Khan Gymkhana made the worst start of their campaign by going 0-3 down to FC Rovers inside 22 minutes thanks to an Irfan Junejo penalty (7′), a Raad-us-Salam goal (9′), and an own goal from Muhammad Azeem (22′). But AKG staged a dramatic come back as villain turned hero as M Azeem inspired his side to take the game back to FC Rovers half. Hussain Ahmed and M Azeem had made 2-3 by 25th minute, before Azeem made it 3-3 in 51st minute. Hussain Ahmed then scored twice more to complete his hat trick with goals in 61st and 72nd minute to shock FC Rovers to their second successive defeat by making Aga Khan Gymkhana win 5-3 at the end.

The win helped AKG get a winning start to the KUFL campaign with 3 points while FC Rovers remain at 0 points from 2 games.

At the same venue, defending KUFL champs Baloch Youth Garden also won their first match with an easy 6-0 win over Usmanabad Union thanks mainly to Talal Ayub’s hat-trick with goals in 25th, 59th and 65th minutes. Sarmad Jaffar scored twice (8′ and 83′) while Essa Lashari scored one as well for winning side. Baloch Youth got their 3 points while Usmanabad Union got 0.

At Korangi Baloch Stadium in Sharafi, home side Korangi Baloch hammered Muslim Star 8-0 that featured hat-tricks from 2 different players. 3 goals each for Abdul Hafeez (3′, 55′, 84′) and Aqeel Ahmed (33′, 35′, 83′) helped Korangi Baloch on their way while Amjad Baloch (8′) and Abdul Jabbar (45′) joined the fun with a goal each to register the 8-0 hammering and 3 points as well. Muslim Star remain at 1 point from 2 games.

At KMC Stadium, the Group ‘A’ match between Kalri Star and Islah Baloch finished 1-1 with both sides earning 1 point each in their first game.

Match referees were Ansar Javed, Dad Rehman, Adnan Khan, Javed Bangash, Shaukat Ali, M Ali Shahka, Noor Muhammad, Akhtar Baloch, Imran Hussain, and Naseer Ahmed.
