WAPDA, Balochistan United enter Women Cup semis

The 7th National Women Football Championship 2011 being held at Jinnah Stadium PSB in Islamabad saw the completion of its quarter-finals stage on Monday, 26 Sept 2011.

The third quarter-final between WAPDA and HEC saw WAPDA pull off a one-sided 5-1 win. Shabana Kausar opened the scoring for WAPDA after 20 minutes, which was followed by a brace from Rafia Perveen (31′ and 48′), and further goals from Naila Rani (67′) and Mehwish Khan (70′). HEC could only reply through Razia’s 55th minute goal, as WAPDA booked their place in the semi-finals.

In 4th quarter-final, Balochistan United WFC beat former winners Sports Sciences WFC 3-0 with goals from Riffat Mehdi (29′, 57′) and Shalaila Baloch (52′) to qualify for semi-finals.

The winning sides now join defending champions Young Rising Star WFC (Rawalpindi) and Diya WFC (Karachi) in the semi-finals. The semi-finals of the championship will be played on 28 Sept 2011. 1st semi-final sees Diya tackle WAPDA, while YRS face Balochistan United in 2nd semi.

The final will be played at Jinnah Stadium PSB on 30 September 2011.
