PMC Athletico shock defending champs WAPDA

Usman (PMC Athletico) 2 goals vs WAPDA in PPL 2011 in Fsd

The results of two matches today (21 Sept 2011) in 8th Pakistan Premier Football League 2011 saw PMC Club Athletico Faisalabad produced a shock 2-0 win over defending champions WAPDA at University of Agriculture Ground in Faisalabad.

Both goals were scored by Muhammad Usman in either half (14′ and 84′) as PMC Athletico made home advantage count in their favour against a WAPDA side struggling for form this year in PPL.

This first ever win over WAPDA gives PMC Athletico 3 precious points as their determination of using home advantage to win points for avoiding relegation begins with a morale boosting victory.

The loss means WAPDA continue slipping at the chances of chasing runaway leaders KRL to retain the PPL title this year.

In the second match of the day at Peoples Stadium in Karachi, KESC continued their fine form as they beat Muslim FC Chaman by a comfortable 2-0 margin.

Team captain and former Pakistan international striker Chaman-born Muhammad Essa opened the scoring after 18 minutes, before Chitral-born forward Muhammad Rasool doubled the lead in 26th minute for KESC. The lead was maintained till the end as KESC picked up another 3 points to try and close the gap and climb up the PPL 2011 standings.
