GSA D-Goal Semi-finalists decided

Fantastic Four remain

On 4th September Sunday, all quarter finals were played after the Eid Break. A second walk over was awarded as Old Fighters were given a walk over by Majid Shaheed. Therefore the four quarter finals were held and best four teams of the tournament now remain.

In the First match Bafana made tough work of Five Stars FC and beat them 3-2. Kashif Zafar struck his fifth goal of the tournament before Asad (pictured above) doubled the lead. The lead was cut in half thanks to Barra running the show and providing for Ahmed to make it 2-1 at the half. The second was again a fast paced start from the Bafana side and Asad struck again to make it 3-1 before Barra struck a stunning second but the final score ended at 3-2 for Bafana. Defending Champions are through.

The second game was expected to be a tough encounter as Galacticos faced the tough Rebellions. Galacticos historically are successful in this tournament but red Hot Rebellions now have attained the tag of favorites after a comfortable 2-0 win. Wali scored the first before the ever brilliant Kami struck an individual effort in the second half. Kami was brilliant through out the match. Wali scored in the second straight game and is the pictured player.

The third encounter saw the best match of the day as Free Stylers played Old Fighters. Old Fighters showed the early touches as the Kickers stars Shahzad and Madni combined very well but failed to find the net. Finally one of the stars of the tournament Mehtab finally got going and struck a well taken first goal for the Free Stylers. Madni was upended in the penalty box and Amin of Old Fighters struck home from the penalty spot. The Second half was end to end and the pace of Free Stylers eventually broke down the resolute old Fighters team as Ghassan showed great feet before finding Mehtab who struck the winning goal. 2-1 in favor of the Free Stylers.

The fourth and final match was a tough encounter between Aziz Sports and Young Stars. Aziz Sports opened the scoring through Liaqat and held on to the lead until late in the second. Mehmood found the net for the third game in a row striking home a volley to make the final score 1-1. In the penalties it was decided in sudden death as Mehmood Yameen scored both of his penalties to win it 2-1 in penalties.

Therefore four very good teams have made it through from a total of 32. The next post will preview the four teams and also the best players who are in running for the player of the tournament award.
