KARACHI:Diya FC and Young Rising Star advanced to the final of the National Women Football Championship after recording contrasting victories in their respective semi-finals at Jinnah Stadium PSB, Islamabad yesterday.
Diya FC had to struggle against Wapda before securing a 3-1 victory on penalty kicks after the regulation and extra time failed to yield a goal. Irum Kazmi, Hajra, and Nazia Nazir converted their penalties for Diya while goalkeeper Hajra Khan saved 3 WAPDA penalties with only Rafiza scoring for losing side.
On the other hand, Young Rising Star FC defeated Balochistan United FC comfortably 2-0, with Nabeela Hashmi (15′) and Asmara Kayani (25′) being the goal-scorers.
The final will be played tomorrow (30 Sept 2011) while the losing semi-finalists, targeting a bronze medal, will meet today in a classification match.
