The All-Karachi Engro Vopak Football Cup 2011, organised by FC Rovers (Malir) at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, witnessed the results of its two semi-finals to decide who will face each other for the Engro Vopak Cup. Hunter Sports (Malir) will face venue hosts Baloch Mujahid at their own home turf on Sunday 3 July 2011.
Hunter Sports beat Burma Mohammadan (Korangi) 6-5 on penalties after the game ended 0-0 in normal time. Burma Mohammadan held the upper hand for most of the game but their strikers Saifullah, M Imran, and M Jaffar failed to score in front of Hunter Sports’ preference to play defensive tactics. In penalties, Hunter Sports prevailed 6-5 when M Saleem, Noor Khan, Imran, Ghulam Akbar, M Younas, and Nabeed Ahmed scored from the spot with only Saeed ur Rehman, M Idrees, M Raeis, M Imran, and M Ishaq scoring in shoot-out for Burma Mohammadan.
In 2nd semi-final, Baloch Mujahid raced to a 3-0 win over Irfan Memorial FC (Landhi) before half-time with goals from M Nadeem (3′), Shahzad Majeed (11′), and M Rizwan (17′) in first 17 minutes. However, Irfan Memorial came back strongly in 2nd half, after a motivational talk from club president Syed Usman Shah at half-time when both sides met the chief guests, with goals from Farhan Khan (41′) and Abdullah (51′) bringing them back in the game. In the closing stages, Irfan Memorial came close to equalising but Baloch Mujahid’s defence held firm as the game finished 3-2 in their favour.
The chief guests for the 2nd semi were Ch. Nadeem, Mohammad Arabi and Nasir Bhatti from Rahim Yar Khan.
