The All-Karachi Lala Taj Munir Memorial Football Tournament, hosted by Malik Star FC at Rehman Baba Ground in Orangi Town #4, kicked off with a 3-1 penalty shoot-out victory for Madina Shabaz (Baldia Town) over Malir’s FC Rovers after a 1-1 draw at end of normal time. Referees were Abdul Malik with Anwar Ali and Sameen Khan.
Sikandar Butt gave FC Rovers a 12th minute lead but Asif Khan equalised for Madina Shabaz in 25th minute. Both sides failed to score in 2nd half, but Madina Shabaz held their nerve to win the penalty shoot-out thanks to successful penalties by Akhtar Ali, Hadayat Ullah, and Yousaf Kaka with only Ammar Shah scoring for FC Rovers in shoot-out as his team mates’ nerves got the better of them.
The tournament was inaugurated by chief guest Rahim Bakhsh, secretary of Karachi Zonal FA West, who praised the organisation of such tournaments that encourage participation of talented youth players from across Karachi to prove their worth on the field.
