PFF announce 28 man provisional squad for World Cup qualifiers

President Pakistan Football Federation Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat announced the squad of 28 Players for Training camp at Lahore from 1st June 2011 for World Cup Qualifying Round (home and away) matches against Bangladesh on 29th June 2011 at Dhaka, Bangladesh and on 3rd July 2011 at Lahore, Pakistan. The camp will be supervised by head coach Tariq Lufti with assistants Gohar Zaman and Nasir Ismail.

Veteran goalkeeper Jaffar Khan makes a return to national team camp following injury problems for young goalkeepers Amir Gul and Muhammad Omer. A surprise inclusion in the camp is young Karachi United star Rehan Munir alongside Austalian-based Ahmed Akbar Khan.

KESC star striker Muhammad Rasool misses out after sustaining injury during last month’s 21st NBP National Football Challenge Cup 2011 in Faisalabad. However, KRL’s final hero Hasnain Abbas got his call-up for his impressive performance throughout the National Challenge Cup, including scoring the winning goal in the final against KESC.

The expatriate players abroad will be included in the squad in the final list of players at the conclusion of the camp.
