Pak colts off to Iran for AFC U13 Festival

KARACHI: A 22-member Pakistan Under-13 football team flew out of Lahore for Iran on Monday to feature in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-13 Festival of Football pencilled in for May 17 to 23 in Yazd.

Nine teams including Iran, hosts Yazd, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan are featuring in the two-week annual youth extravaganza.

During the match, a team will be required to field 11 players of the 22-man squad in the first half and the remaining 11 players in the second half in a bid to provide opportunity to all the players representing a side.

Defenders Salman Rahim from Malir, Karachi, a product if the AID-27 coach Nasir Ismail’s academy, will serve as skipper while Rashid Khan from Lahore will be his deputy.
