Lali Shaheed through to Saqib Memorial quarters

Formerly known as Young Globe FC from Pirabad (Zone West, Karachi), Lali Shaheed qualified to quarter-final stage of 6th Saqib Rizvi Memorial Floodlit Football Tournament after beating Changezi Boys (Manghopir) 3-1 at Colony Star Ground in North Karachi. Goals from Bakht Khan (7′), Haider Khan (19′) and Dawood Khan (40′) gave Lali Shaheed a 3-0 lead by the 2nd half.

However, Ali Raza scored from a 20 yard shot to give Changezi Boys a goal before missing a crucial penalty in 46th minute when his spot kick came off the cross bar. There was further drama in the game as Lali Shaheed defender Shahid Rehman was sent off for a 2nd yellow card in 50th minute but Lali Shaheed held on for a 3-1 win. Referees were Babar Khan, Abdul Wahab, and Fareed Ahmed, while match commissioner was Khalid Majeed. On Saturday 14 May 2011, hosts Colony Star face Nawab XI.

Young Globe FC officially announced its name during its general body meeting chaired by Bacha Khan Mashwani and general secretary Malik Zada. The meeting also unanimously approved name change of club to Lali Shaheed FC and Zone West FA was duly notified by club secretary Malik Zada for necessary paperwork citing new name of team.
