Karachi Football Round-up

Usmanabad’s Musa XI had to thank Muhammad Tariq for beating Manghopir XI 2-0 in 2nd semi-final of 6th All Karachi Saqib Kazmi Memorial Floodlit Football Tournament hosted by North Karachi’s Colony Star FC. Referees were Saad Kazmi and assistants Farid Ahmed and Mumtaz Ahmed, with match commissioner Khalid Majeed.

Musa XI dominated the first half and M. Tariq gave them 1-0 lead in 16th minute from a 20 yard shot that went past Manghopir goalkeeper Habib Baloch. In 2nd half, Manghopir XI came back strongly but their strikers Shezad Baloch and Tanveer Baloch wasted golden chances to equalise. Tariq scored his second of the game in 42nd minute after beating two defenders to give Musa XI an unassailable 2-0 lead. Tariq could have completed his hat-trick but he failed to score from the chances he got in 48th and 51st minutes as both efforts rebounded off the goal post.

Musa XI will now face Rasheedabad’s Sher Islam FC in the final on 29 May with 5 PM kick off. The final will be attended by Sindh parliamentarian Syed Faisal Ali Sabzwari (MQM) as chief guest.
