KARACHI: Pakistan’s Under-13 football team’s camp in preparation for the AFC Festival of Football is in full swing at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore.

The probables in the camp have been reduced to 26 after four players including Waheed, Wajahat, Shahid Butt and Muzammil were dropped on Thursday.

The AFC Under13 Festival of Football will be held in Yazd, the capital city of Yazd province of Iran from May 17 to 23.

The team will leave for Iran on May 16. However, the head coach Hassan Baloch and physiotherapist Dr Kamran Mehdi will proceed on May 14 to attend the head coaches workshop.

“The final 22-member squad will be announced in a week’s time. All the players are technically sound and I hope that a good lot would be picked in the end,” Hassan Baloch, who had led Pakistan to secure second position in the AFC Under-14 Festival of Football in Iran last year, told ‘The News’.

“We definitely have a problem in the goalkeeping department. The boys we have in the camp are having low height but our goalkeeping coach Nadeem is joining us soon and he will try to pick the best for the job,” Hassan said.

Mohammad Asghar Anjum and Zahid Niaz are acting as assistant coaches during the camp which started on April 15.
