Lahore, 24 April: Model Town Club and Sargodha Universiy earned their first win in the fourth edition of National Women Football Club Championship. Striker Khadija struck 18th minute goal to power Model town outfit 1-0 win over Lahore Fighters at MTFA Ground while Sargodha University earned a big 16-0 win over Hazara Shaheen in a match between two first timers.
Earlier in Karachi Phase, Diya FC bulldozed debutant Marta 22-0. It was second huge win for Diya who earlier defeated TCS 11-0 on 21 April.
Afshan Altaf struck nine goals for the winners while Hajra Khan hit the back of the net eight times. Afshan scored in the 5th, 18th, 24th, 31st, 35th, 45th, 49th, 60th and 65th minute while international striker Hajra did the scoring in the 8th, 19th, 21st, 28th, 33rd, 41st, 42nd, 68th minute. Marium Laghari (26th, 55th) and Rukhsar Rafiq (16th, 37th) earned brace while Ghazal Farooq stepped in with 13th minute goal.
Karachi Kickers, who recorded six points alongwith Diya, also defeated Marta FC 12-0 on 21 April and last night they managed to win 2-0 over TCS. Both the goals emerged in the first session through Qurat Ul Ain (16th min) and Razmina (20th min).
In Rawalpindi based group, Sargodha University recorded 16-0 win over Abbottabad’s Hazara Shaheen. It was first win for Sargodha who earlier lost both their matches. Spearhead Sidra Gul steals the show with seven goals, scoring in the first, 8th,12th,15th, 23rd, 30th and 66th minute while Farhat came into form with five goals in the 32nd, 38th, 59th, 64th and 67th minute. Winger Muqaddas hit the target twice in the 55th, 61st minute while lone goal scorer were Kulsoom (9th) and Afshan Perveen (67th).
Later on in a match between two Young Rising Stars, Layyah lost to hot contender Rawalpindi 0-7. Midfielder Malaika Noor struck four goals in the 17th, 21st, 33rd, 46th minute. Winger Sher Zaman hit the net twice in the 54th, 59th minute while Zahra Iqbal struck once in the 53rd minute.
Meanwhile, 2007 National Champions Sports Sciences earned their second successive win by beating Lahore School of Economics 3-0 after 6-0 win over Lums on Thursday. Sumera Perveen 13th, Samia 27, Ishrat Fatima 43rd were the scorers for winners.
LGS suffered 0-2 defeat at the hands of Lums. Fullback Saba Abbas opened scoring in the 32nd minute and added the second through Arosa Ahmed in the 66th minute.
Margalla Club (Islamabad) also won their 2nd Match With Sargodha on 19 April 2011 with a 3-0 scoreline. Eman scored in 1st half, while Mejzgaan Orakzai converted two fine left wing crosses from fellow woman international Abiha Haider to score twice in 2nd half.
