Karachi Football Round-Up

Organised on the advice of Farrukh Humayun Zaidi (Administrator, North Nazimabad Town), the Hamara Karachi Festival 7-a-side Football Tournament saw its final being decided on penalties. Gharib Shah Union (Lyari) beat hosts National Soccer Academy 5-4 on penalties after 3-3 score at end of normal time. Abdul Rehman, Muhammad Yaqoob, and Jamil Baba scored for Gharib Shah Union while Fareed Majeed scored twice and Mohsin Shah scored once for NSA in normal time.

The Hamara Karachi school event saw Beaconhouse North Nazimabad beat Civilisation School North Nazimabad 2-0 with both goals scored by Mani Tahir. Both games were played at NSA Ground.

Referee was Habibullah while match commissioner was Abdul Karim (member Central Zone). The chief guest for the occasion was MPA Sindh Assembly, Abdul Moeed (MQM) who presented trophies to finalists, officials, and Arshad Jamal led organisers as well as praising the organisation of the Hamara Karachi football events for both senior and junior levels. Abdul Moeed also announced to facilitate the expansion of NSA Ground to accommodate 11-a-side football matches at regional and national levels in near future.

The All-Karachi Sharif Dad Memorial Football Tournament, organised by National Frontier FC of SITE Town, saw its final played between two Zone West teams in Frontier City and Frontier Mujahid at National Frontier Ground in Banaras Colony. A large crowd witnessed Frontier City edge past their rivals 2-1 to win the title. Mati Ullah and Naimat Ullah scored for winning side while Muhammad Rizwan scored for Frontier Mujahid. Match referee was Sameen Khan.

Mati Ullah was declared man of the match while team mate Hayat Ullah was declared player of the tournament. Chief Guest for the final was late Sharif Dad’s younger brother Rahim Dad, who gave out winners and runners-up trophies to the teams.

According to tournament organising secretary Rehmat Ullah, previously Frontier City had beaten Shabaz Green on penalties 4-3 after 0-0 score in 1st semi final, while Frontier Mujahid beat Metroville Star 3-0 in other semi-final.

The elections for District Football Referees Association for Karachi Zone West FA saw Chaudhry Muhammad Israr being  unanimously re-elected as its Chairman. Election Convenor and Zone West member Iqbal Minhas announced that Chaudhry Muhammad Israr and Sameed Khan were respectively elected unopposed for posts of Chairman and Secretary.

Other elected members include Saleem Hussain as Senior Vice Chairman, Imam Bakhsh Baloch as Vice Chairman, Bakht Zada as Treasurer, with Dil Murad, Abdul Karim, Muhammad Ali, Adnan Khan as Congress Members, while honorary membership was granted to Saleem Faiz, Hafeez Ahmed, Abdul Malik, Naseer Uddin, and Noor Muhammad.

A copy of the election results has been passed on to all Zonal FAs of Karachi City District as well as the Sindh Football Referees Association offices.
