AKU Inter-University Football: wins for Hamdard & BUITMS

Organised by the Aga Khan University (AKU) Sports & Rehabilitation Centre at the AKU Football Ground, the 9th AKU Inter-University Football Tournament 2011 saw the results 3 games in Day 5 of its competition on Friday, 8 April 2011.

In Group ‘B’, the Balochistan University of Informational Technology & Management Sciences (BUITMS) smashed Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) 4-1 to gain their 2nd win of the campaign. Zahoor Shah (2′ and 16′) and Hafeez Ullah (4′ and 5′) both scored twice each early in first half to overhelm DUHS and gain a 4-0 lead before half time. Umar Rawasia managed to score a consolation goal for DUHS in 65th minute but it wasn’t enough as BUITMS earned a deserving 4-1 win at the end.

In Group ‘C’, the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) played out a 1-1 draw with Institute of Business Administration United (IBA-United) to earn 1 point each. Waleed Kidwai gave IoBM a 5th minute lead but Azhar Khan levelled just before half time for IBA-United in 40th minute to tie the scores 1-1 at half time. The scores remained such in 2nd half as the game finished all-square at the end.

In Group ‘D’, Hamdard University (HU) whooped Liaquat National Medical College (LNMU) a resounding 8-1. Nadir Ali led from the front as he scored a hat-trick in first half (3′,12′,14′) as Hamdard raced to a 3-0 lead before Umar Ahmed scored in 17th minute to pull one back for LNMU to give the scoreline 3-1 at half time. However, Hamdard maintained the pressure as Abdul Malik scored twice early in 2nd half (52′ and 54′) with Nadir Ali adding his fourth of the game in 58th minute and Amjad Ali joining the fun with a goal in 70th minute to completely overwhelm LNMU 8-1 at the end.

The matches were supervised by Referees Naseer Umar, Khalid Mumtaz, Abdul Wahid, and Javed Bangash while Official Scorer was Sajjad Akbar and Match Commissioner was Munawar Khan.

On Saturday (9 April 2011), 6 games will be played. SSUET face IBA-United at 8 AM, Ziauddin University face LNMU at 9 AM, Hamdard University face PNEC-NUST at 11 AM, DUHS face IBA-Reserves at 2 PM, JMDC face MAJU at 3 PM, and NED University face PAF-KIET at 5 PM.
