Irfan Kawri, who is the North West Coordinator for the Zesh Rehman Foundation, presented the cheque on behalf of Zesh to Children Today at the DeVere Venues White Hotel in Bolton on the 1st March. Elizabeth Oakes Regional Fundraising Manager for Children Today said:

“Zesh is an excellent Ambassador for Children Today. For the past 3 years, he has kindly got in contact to donate money to help the children buy specialist equipment.

“Zesh’s donations have especially helped Amber, aged 5, who has cerebral palsy purchase a new walker which not only improves her muscle tone but gives her a life of greater independence”.

Zesh, who is currently playing in Thailand with Muangthong United, is also an Ambassador for Kick It Out, Show Racism the Red Card and the Princes Trust. Zesh said:

“It’s nice to be able to donate this money to Children Today and to see exactly what a difference it has made to Amber and her family”.

Zesh, who launched the Zesh Rehman Foundation last year with the aim of offering positive opportunities for young people to aspire and excel continued:

“We will continue our support for Children Today and other good charitable causes. I’m grateful to be in the position I’m in, playing football for a living is something I have always dreamt of and one, I do not take for granted. As footballers, it’s important we act as good role models and give something back to the community”.

The parents of Amber, who met Zesh personally last year said:

“With so many other footballers in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, it is great to see a professional footballer like Zesh Rehman donating money off his own back towards Children Today.

“His kindness has meant that our daughter Amber can purchase new equipment which we as a family are grateful for.

“We would like to wish Zesh success in Thailand and look forward to seeing him upon his return later in the year”.
