Raiders edge out Garhi Shahue 1-0 in Raiders Cup

Lahore, 23 March: Faisal Town’s Raiders FC steered late goal and over came stubborn Garhi Shahue Club 1-0 to enter quarter-final of All Punjab Raiders Football Cup 2011 at Raiders Football Club Ground, Faisal Town. Both the teams were introduced to Mian Aslam Iqbal, former Punjab Minister of Tourism and Culture at interval when the score was 0-0 between two balanced outfits.

Under guidance of Siddiq Qadri, Garhi Shahue put up resolute defence and lone goal of the match emerged six minutes from time when striker Shahbaz Sarwar punished a defensive blunder on the edge of the area. Raiders played the last five minutes with ten men as Referee Shams Pervaiz gave marching orders to Raiders’s Somalia-born striker Abdul Qadir.
