Lahore, 28 March: Two brilliant second half goals by Zaheer Abbas pushed Model Town FC into final of All Punjab Raiders Football Cup 2011 at Raiders Football Club Ground, Faisal Town. They outplayed Flying Horse 3-0 after one-nil ahead at interval. Model Town FC will face winner of Raiders FC/Pak Fighters in the Tuesday, 29 March 2011 final whose chief guest will be Malik Muhammad Afzal Khokhar (MNA).
Umar Khan-led Model Town were quick to settle down and landed opener in the 7th minute when midfielder Hamza curled the right wing corner that eluded keeper Basit Ghafoor and dropped into the cage. MTFA led 1-0 at interval. Both the teams were introduced to PFF Technical Director Sajjad Mehmood. The second session belonged to opportunist striker Zaheer, scorer of both goals in 2-1 win over UAE during Iran’s Asian Youth Championship 2000. He swept the ball angularly past Basit from right flank in the 6th minute of second session and added another in the 25th minute with low drive on left corner. The match was supervised by Naeem Zaidi, supported on line by Liaquat Shah, Younus Anthony.
