Real Lahore beat Askari Strikers 5-0 in the final of the DFF ’11 here at the Football Ground, XX Block Defence.

The game was played between the two best sides of the 32 team, U23 event with both teams coming to the final having won all their previous games.

The game started and Real Lahore took the lead almost immediately after the start when Fahad Tariq drove left foot into the top corner to put his team in front early. The next minutes saw good play by Askari Strikers as they defended well and made some good runs to the Real goal. But Subhan Naveed led Real Lahore were not to be kept at bay for long, a brilliant move down the right wing saw Salman Zaidi scoring from the edge of the area to put Real firmly in charge.

The second half saw large spells of possession and attack from the re-vitalized young Askari Strikers XI with their Left Winger Tipu making some good runs. But they couldn’t turn the spell into goals and the game was put to bed once Salman Zaidi scored his second and Real’s third some 20 minutes before full time.

This goal took a lot out of the Strikers side and Real started playing keep ball and made the already tiring boys from Askari-X run for the ball more by moving around the ball swiftly.

The last ten minutes saw Omer Asif and talisman Quyyum Furqan score for Real to complete the rout.

The scoreline while showing the superiority of Real Lahore over the other Lahore sides was a little too harsh on the Askari Strikers XI who played magnificently throughout the league/cup tournament and put in a great fighting effort in the finals.

The final was to culminate the 6 week fiesta of football arranged by Ali Jan, Omer Jan and their friends. The tournament was a great effort from their part to promote youth football in the region.
