Lahore, 18 Feb: Model Town Football Academy (MTFA) continue to be committed to raising the quality of soccer participation and officiating in the Punjab Province as well as Pakistan. MTFA decided to launch Women Wing of Model Town Football Referees Academy next month. The female Academy are designed to give referees additional experience and instruction so that they may gain confidence in their refereeing ability.
“Vision Asia encompasses 11 important elements of football with refereeing being one of the prominent one and since Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)’s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat is also FIFA and World Disciplinary Committee member and Chairman AFC Disciplinary Committee, and his all out efforts convinced AFC to make Pakistan a part of Vision Asia, MTFA management decided to launch the Referees Academy,” said MTFA President Mian Rizwan Ali.
“Model Town Referees Academy for both sexes has been formed with its prime aim to bring on the cream of referees. It’s an exciting project that’ll see us train the best young referees in the area. Training will include the likes of positioning, fitness, how to deal with players, application of laws of the game and even diet and nutrition. The Referees Academy will soon be linked to famous Referees Academies of Minnesota Youth Soccer Association, Hertfordshire County FA, Cheshire County FA, Suffolk FA, Manchester FA, Oxfordshire FA and BTEC etc,” added Rizwan, Match Commissioner of PPFL since 2006.
Rizwan, manager of Pakistan Football team four years ago, added that Women Wing of Model Town Referees Academy will be launched next month which will be first ever Women Referee Academy on Pakistan soil under the aegis of MTFA. The aim and purpose of the Academy is to develop and train young female referees to become excellent, accurate referees and to promote refereeing in women circuit as a professional part of the game. The Academy offers young women football enthusiasts an entry into the world of Football by realising the ideal of becoming a professional, career referee.
It will be sixth edition in the MTFA family and a welcome act in Lahore football fraternity after Model Town Club, Model Town Academy,Women Wing of Academy, Model Town United FC and Model Town Football Referees Academy for men.
