The Group ‘A’ fixture of 8th Karachi Football League 2010-11 between Shabaz Green (Banaras) and FC Rovers (Malir) proved to be a one-sided affair at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. Shabaz Green’s Kashif Niaz helped his side dominate the game from the start as they ran away 4-1 winners at the end, virtually ended all hopes of FC Rovers making the top 4 slot.
Shabaz Green had also beaten hot favourites Young Ansari and the struggling Orangi Mohammadan previously. At half time, Shabaz Green led 2-0 thanks to two goals from Kashif Niaz (30′ and 43′). The second half saw Shabaz Green maintain their dominance as Rehman Khan made it 3-0 in 47th minute. However, a minute later Shabaz’s left-back Shah Hussain turned the ball into his own net whilst clearing, giving FC Rovers an own goal and the score 3-1.
However, Kashif Niaz completed the 10th hat-trick of the KFL 2010-11 season when he scored his 3rd of the game (and 7th of the season) in 66th minute as Shabaz Green ran away with the 3 points at the end of the game winning 4-1. Both teams finished 8 games with FC Rovers lying with 7 points in 8th place, while Shabaz Green has 9 points in 7th place. Both sides, however cannot make the top-4 place in their group.
Referees were Iqrar Hussain with Babar Khan and Mumtaz Baloch while match commissioner was Abdul Karim (Member Central Zone). On Saturday (05.02.2011), National Afridi (Baldia Town) face Shazad Mohammadan (Malir) at 4 PM.
