KFL 2010-11: Chanesar Blue solidify Top 4 finish in Group ‘A’

Karachi Football League defending champions Chanesar Blue ensured a Top-4 finish in Group ‘A’ to qualify for knockout stage as they trounced struggling Orangi Mohammadan 7-2 in the 8th Karachi Football League 2010-11. In another Group ‘A’ game, Burma Mohammadan (Korangi) stunned FC Rovers (Malir) 2-1. Both games were played at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi on Monday 31 January 2011.

Despite the one sided scoreline, Orangi Mohammadan fought hard in first half but could not stop Chanesar Blue taking a 3-1 lead at half time. Abdul Sattar made Chanesar Blue take the lead in 14th minute but captain Muhammad Ibrar equalised for Orangi in 27th minute. Saifullah made it 2-1 for Chanesar in 29th minute while Fareed Ahmed made it 3-1 just before half time in 44th minute.

The second half saw Muhammad Jameel pull one back again for Orangi Mohammadan, reducing the deficit to 3-2. But Shaukat Ali (72′) made it 4-2. 3 more late goals saw Fareed Ahmed (88′) and Saifullah (90′) score their second of the game while veteran Mehmood Laasi (89′) joined the fun with a goal of his own as Chanesar Blue ran away 7-2 winners. The result left Chanesar Blue retain top spot in Group ‘A’ with 17 points from 8 games while Orangi Mohammadan remain bottom with defeats in all their 8 games so far.

Later on, Burma Mohammadan stunned FC Rovers 2-1. Saifullah gave the Korangi side a 1-0 lead before half-time after 38 minutes, but Sarosh Sagheer equalised in 51st minute for FC Rovers. However, the delicate tie was decided when Saifullah scored his second for Burma Mohammadan as his 25 yard striker beat Rovers goalie Muhammad Naseem all ends up. FC Rovers could not equalise again as Burma Mohammadan finished the game with all 3 points winning 2-1. Burma Mohammadan now have 9 points from 6 games and lie in 6th place while FC Rovers remain 7th with 7 points from 7 games.
