Baloch Youth Garden and Al-Shabaz Korangi maintained top spots in their respective groups after winning against FC Rovers (Malir) and National Afridi (Baldia Town) at Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground, Garden West in 8th Karachi Football League 2010-11 on Wednesday, 9 Feb 2011. FC Rovers and National Afridi bowed out of the KFL campaign after failing to get a top-4 spot in respective groups to qualify for quarter-finals.
Baloch Youth Garden won 5-2 against FC Rovers in Group ‘A’ with a brace from Tahir Jaffar and a goal each from Salamuddin, Sarmad Jaffar, and Aaqib Ayub. For FC Rovers, winger Irfan Junejo and captain Sikander Butt only managed goals. In Group ‘B’, Abdul Rehman’s 75th minute goal was enough for Al-Shabaz to beat National Afridi 1-0 after a close game.
Referees were Abdul Malik, Hafeez Ahmed, Farrukh Riaz, and Babar Khan, while match commissioner was Abdul Karim (Member, Central Zone).
The results left Baloch Youth Garden top of Group ‘A’ with 17 points from 8 games while FC Rovers finished a lowly 9th with 7 points from allotted 9 games. Al-Shabaz and National Afridi also finished their quota of 9 games with Al-Shabaz top of Group ‘B’ with 18 points while National Afridi finished 8th with 11 points only.
