Southshore and Beaconhouse Gulshan through to QFs of KUSC 2010-11

The 6th Karachi United School Championship 2010-11 saw Southshore School and Beaconhouse Gulshan qualify for quarter-finals of the competition after winning their respective group games at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. Their wins helped them complete the Quarter-Final line-up scheduled to take place on 16th January involving Lyceum School, Aga Khan Secondary School, Karachi Grammar School, Beaconhouse Jubilee, St. Patrick’s High School and Nixor College. These were also the last of the 24 group stage games scheduled.

In Group ‘A’, St. Michael’s Convent School managed a consolation 4-2 win over Progressive School to decide the 3rd and 4th place teams in their group. Muhammad Shaz scored twice while Talal Khalid and Mujahid Alam scored once each for the already eliminated St. Michael’s while Ali Imran scored a brace for Progressive. In other game, defending champs Lyceum beat Aga Khan School 3-1 to get top spot in Group ‘A’ while Aga Khan have to be content with second place. Taha Rehman scored twice and S.M. Rizwan scored once for Lyceum School while Rahmat Uddin scored once for Aga Khan School.

In Group ‘B’, Beaconhouse Gulshan joined former champions and group leaders KGS in quarter-finals after beating hapless Bayview High School 7-0 thanks to 5 goals from captain Murtaza and 2 from Mukhtar Yaqoobi. In Group ‘C’, Southshore School came from behind to win 4-1 against Nixor College to qualify for quarters as well as topping their group. Nixor College’s Karachi United star Karim Kerai gave them an early lead but Southshore responded with quick fire goals from captain Danial Naqvi (2), Muqeet Khan and Ammar Khan.

Match referees were Adnan Khan, Babar Khan, Farrukh Riaz, Mumtaz Baloch, Chaudhary Sarfraz, and Riaz Baloch while Match commissioner was Abdul Karim (Member Central Zone).

With the conclusion of the group stage the quarter-final line-up is Lyceum School and Aga Khan Secondary School from Group ‘A’, Karachi Grammar School and Beaconhouse Gulshan from Group ‘B’, Nixor College and Southshore School from Group ‘C’, and St. Patrick’s High School and Beaconhouse Jubilee from Group ‘D’.

The Quarter-finals will be played on Sunday 16 January 2011 at Baloch Mujahid Stadium with the schedule provided:

Karachi Grammar School vs Aga Khan School at 9:45 am
St. Patrick’s High School vs Nixor College at 11:00 am
Southshore School vs Beaconhouse Jubilee at 12:15 pm
