KGS enter quarter-finals of 6th KUSC 2010-11 with 7-0 win

The 6th Karachi United School Championship 2010-11 saw four-time KUSC champions Karachi Grammar School (KGS) enter the quarter-finals of the competition after an emphatic 7-0 win over Group ‘B’ rivals Bayview High School at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. The main hero for KGS was hat-trick scorer Bruce who netted 4 against hapless Bayview High School in the game to earn man of the match award.

This was third successive win for KGS in their group stage games as they finished winners of Group ‘B’ with 9 points, while Bayview High School are on 3 points from 2 games. On 9th January, the deciding game for 2nd place spot in Group ‘B’ will be played between Bayview High School and Beaconhouse Gulshan.

KGS started the game with thunderous fashion as they went 1-0 up in 4th minute thanks to talisman Bruce scoring the opener. Mujtaba Shabazkar made it 2-0 in 14th minute, Ali Bahmani 3-0 in 20th minute as KGS were in the driving seat at half time. In second half, KGS scored 4 more goals as Bruce completed his hat trick with 3 more strikes in 32nd, 46th, and 48th minutes while Moiz Farooqi completed the misery on Bayview High with a goal in 49th minute. Bayview High School could not perform up to their mark as Karachi Grammar School qualified for quarter-finals after winning 7-0.

According to KUSC Chief Organiser, Riaz Ahmed, all group games will finish by 9th January to decide which top two teams from each of the 4 groups will play in quarter-finals of KUSC 2010-11. Defending champs St. Michaels’ Convent School face Progressive Public (Group ‘A’, 8:30 AM), Lyceum School face Aga Khan Secondary School (Group ‘A’, 10:15 AM), Bayview High School face Beaconhouse Gulshan (Group ‘B’, 11 AM), and Nixor College face Southshore School (Group ‘D’, 12:15 PM).
