The 8th Karachi Football League 2010-11 saw two Group ‘A’ games decided at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi on Thursday (20 January 2011). Young Ansari beat Baloch Youth Garden 2-1 while Shabaz Green beat struggling Orangi Mohammadan 2-0. Young Ansari strikers Muhammad Nabi and Umar Nawab scored while Salamuddin scored for Baloch Youth Garden from a freekick. Shabaz Green’s both goals were scored by Kashif Niaz.
KFL organising secretary Riaz Ahmed gave man of the match awards to Young Ansari goalkeeper Shoaib Ahmed and Shabaz Green striker Kashif Niaz. Referees were Adnan Khan and Babar Khan alongside assistants Farrukh Riaz, Riaz Baloch, and Muhammad Kamran, while match commissioners were Abdul Karim (Member Central Zone) and Saleem Arif. Shabaz Green chairman Umar Zada was the chief guest for the Shabaz Green vs Orangi Mohammadan game and he met the players and officials before kick off.
Young Ansari and Baloch Youth Garden were balanced 0-0 at half time but Salamuddin gave Baloch Youth the lead with a free kick in 52nd minute. Being a goal down brought Young Ansari back into life when a pass from star striker Hameed Afridi gave Muhammad Nabi the chance to equalise with aplomb in 66th minute. The deciding goal for National Afridi came on 83 minutes when Umar Nawab scored from a pass by midfielder Ali Murad to give his side a 2-1 lead. Young Ansari goalkeeper Shoaib Ahmed impressed as he denied Baloch Youth Garden many chances to score past him.
Shabaz Green beat struggling Orangi Mohammadan 2-0 thanks to both goals by striker Kashif Niaz as he scored in 19th and 83rd minutes to give his side 3 precious points as Orangi Mohammadan’s miserable campaign continued.
The results leave Young Ansari top of Group ‘A’ with 12 points from 5 games while Baloch Youth Garden are 4th with 8 points from 5 games. Shabaz Green have 6 points from 6 games to lie 8th while still pointless Orangi Mohammadan remain bottom of Group ‘A’ in 10th place. Today (Friday 21 Jan 2011), Orangi Mohammadan face Malir Union at 3 PM while National Afridi face Korangi Gymkhana at 5 PM.
