KFL 2010-11: Mauripur Baloch and Shazad Mohammadan earn victories

The 8th Karachi Football League 2010-11, organised by Karachi United FC with approval from Karachi Coordination Committee, witnessed two Group ‘B’ matches decided at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. Mauripur Baloch beat Gulshan-e-Ittehad (Korangi) 4-1, while former champions Shazad Mohammadan (Malir) beat Salaar Welfare Centre (Malir) 3-2 to record their first win of the campaign. Match referees were Babar Khan and Ibrar Hussain with assitants Adnan Khan, Farrukh Riaz and Saad Kazmi.

Mauripur Baloch’s Adnan Sakhi and Salaar Welfare Centre’s Muhammad Asif earned man of the match awards from KFL organising secretary Riaz Ahmed for their superb match displays against their respective opponents as both scored two goals each. Mauripur’s other goalscorers were Majid Rasheed and Naeem Ahmed while Hameed Hussain scored for Gulshan-e-Ittehad. Shazad Mohammadan’s goalscorers were Noor Bakhsh (2 goals) and Adil Baloch.

Both winning sides earned 3 points each. Gushan-e-Ittehad are on 1 point from 2 games while Salaar Welfare Centre remain pointless from 2 games. Mauripur Baloch earned 6 points from 3 games with Shazad Mohammadan on 3 points from 3 games. The KFL 2010-11 also reached the 100 goals scored mark.

Mauripur Baloch took early lead on 12th minute when Adnan Sakhi scored from penalty spot and then scored again in 33rd minute off a Majid Rasheed pass. Gulshan-e-Ittehad attempted a comeback in second half when Hameed Hussain reduced the deficit to 2-1 however Mauripur Baloch maintained their control of the game till the end with 2 more goals of their own. Majid Rasheed’s 76th minute strike sank Gulshan hearts and Naeem Ahmed completed the misery with a goal seconds before full time to give Mauripur Baloch a deserving 4-1 win and 3 points.

Shazad Mohammadan and Salaar Welfare Centre clashed in a 5-goal thriller as speedy forward Muhammad Asif gave Salaar a 1-0 lead in 14th minute against the former KFL champions. Shazad Mohammadan struck back to level scores in 35th minute through a Noor Bakhsh header from an Asghar Baloch corner kick. Noor Bakhsh struck again a minute before the interval as he again converted a pass from playmaker Asghar Baloch to give his side a 2-1 lead at half time. Muhammad Asif equalised for Salaar WC as he left the Shazad defence behind from a through ball to score his second of the game. But a minute later, Adil Baloch stunned the crowd as he gave Shazad Mohammadan a decisive 3-2 lead which they maintained right till the end. This was Shazad’s first win of the KFL 2010-11 campaign.

Today, Kalri Star (Lyari) face Sindh Balochistan (Gulshan-e-Iqbal) while Aga Khan Gymkhana host Salaar Welfare Centre with both games scheduled to be played at Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground Garden West.
