The All-Karachi Hussain Baloch Benefit Memorial Football Tournament at Old Thana Ground, Malir witnessed 6 teams go through to the pre-quarter finals stage of the event according to organising secretary Rafique Baloch. Azam Sports (Drigh Road) showed a remarkable recovery as they fought back from 0-4 down to beat Gharib Nawaz (Dalmia) 5-4. Shahid and Saleem both scored twice for Azam Sports while Kamran scored once. Gharib Nawaz’s Nawaz scored a hat-trick while Saeed Ahmed scored once. Aman’s lone goal helped Malir Shaheen beat Arora FC 1-0.
Baloch Mohammadan Malir beat Chanesar Blue 4-3 on penalties with Latif, Umar, Aamir, and Imran converting for Baloch Mohammadan while only only Fareed, Abbas and Asif could do so for Chanesar Blue. Mauripur Azad also beat Mehfooz XI 8-7 on penalties while Afzal’s lone goal helped Malir Union beat Makran Sports 1-0. All Brothers Malir Madho Mohammadan (Safari Park) 1-0 thanks to a goal from Hussain.
Referees were Naseer Umar, Abdul Latif, Abdul Ghafoor, Muhammad Saleem, while match commissioner was Master Abdul Rahim while media coordinator was Khalid Majeed.
