Lahore, 1 Dec : Pakistan Public Works Department (PPWD) announced their football team for the PFF League – Departmental Leg. They are in need of win against Pakistan Steel in Group-A on Thursday, 2 December. The match will be played at soccer field in Quaid-i-Azam Park, Steel Township, Karachi (11.30 PM Kick off). Later on, Pakistan Police, already qualified for super League with six points, will face eliminated Gwadar Port Authority (2 matches, 0 points) at 2 PM at same field.
PPWD and Steel will vie for second place in Group-A behind Police as both pocketed three points. PPWD lost to Police 0-1 after beating GPA 3-2 while Steel overwhelmed GPA 3-1 and lost to Police 1-2. PPWD is in must win situation as draw will favor Steel.
According to PWD Sports Officer Parvez Saleemi, former international youth player Tariq Umer will act as coach of the team to be assisted by Muhammad Jamil. Goal keeper Sajid Hussain will lead the team. Other players in 23-member team are Mohammad Yousaf, Mohammad Ramzan, Mehraj Bux, Jahangir Khan, Hashmat Ullah, Muhammad Farooq, Muhammad Atif, Muhammad Mobeen, Noor Mohammad, Abdul Razzaq, Gul Muhammad, Kabeer, Taj Mohammad, Sameer, Salamat Ali, Shehzad Hussain, Muslim, Shahnawaz, Bashir Ahmed, Jamil Ahmed, Muhammad Jan, Khalil Ahmed, Hamdan
“The football team of PPWD is in domestic scene since late sixties and over the years it worked as nursery, providing several players who are now showing guts in A-Division of Pakistan football. The objective of this organization are to execute the offices and residential accommodation for federal Government employee and to overcome the backlog of millions of square foot of office space and housing units being presently accommodated in hired office space and privately owned residences within budgetary provisions of Federal Government,” said Saleemi while explaining the function of PPWD. He also praised Muhammad Jan, Noor Muhammad and M.Atif for scoring goals against GPA in 3-2 win in ongoing PFF League.
