The 6th Karachi United School Championship 2010 witnessed the results of final two revised qualifiers at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi. According to tournament organising secretary Riaz Ahmed, St. Patrick’s High School overwhelmed Summit Education System 4-0 while St. Michael’s Convent School beat COMMECS College 2-0 to qualify for the KUSC 2010 Final Round. Originally scheduled teams of DA Public School and City School Gulshan had to replaced at last minute.
St. Patrick’s School had no problem overcoming Summit as they ran comfortable 4-0 winners in a one-sided affair. In 26th minute Adil put his side 1-0 up when his powerful shot inside penalty box found the back of the net. In 29th minute young striker Abbas made it 2-0 for St. Patrick’s as the score was 2-0 at half time. In 2nd half St Patrick’s continued their dominance as Awais Qurni (35th minute) substitute Ammar (40th minute) scored to two more goals to make St. Patrick’s High School qualify for the Final Round at the expense of Summit Education System.
In other qualifier, St. Michael’s Convent School scored a goal in each half to beat COMMECS College 2-0. St Michael’s striker Sohail Panhwar gave his side 1-0 lead in 10th minute while captain Muhammad Shaz made it 2-0 in 42nd minute to help St. Michael’s Convent School qualify for Final Round and knocking COMMECS College out of contention as a result.
The KUSC 2010 Qualifying Round witnessed a total of 8 qualifying games in which Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, The City School Darakhshan, Southshore Academy, Beaconhouse PECHS, The Fahim School System, St. Patrick’s High School, and St. Michael’s Convent School beat their respective opponents to qualify for final round whereby they will join the KUSC 2009 top-eight sides of defending champions Lyceum School, runners-up Karachi Grammar School, semi-finalists Nixor College and Beaconhouse Jubilee, and quarter finalists Bay View High School and Beaconhouse Gulshan.
The KUSC 2010 Final Round will be played from 18th Dec 2010 onwards with the 16 teams being divided in 4 groups of 4 teams each with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the quarter-final stage.
