KRL overpower SSGC 3-0 with Mehmood outstanding

Lahore, 10 Dec: Chaman-born Mehmood Khan, who represented Pakistan U23 team in 16th Asian Games at China, kept holders KRL alive with grand display, beating SSGC 3-0 at KPT Stadium, near Custom House, Kharadar in the Pakistan Premier League 2010.

Mehmood showed his class with two goals and an assist. He opened the scoring in the 11th minute when he sliced the ball into left corner past keeper Adnan Ahmed. KRL might have scored more but first Muhammad Qasim and then Rizwan Asif, Yasir Afridi fumbled infront of the cage. KRL gave little room to SSGC and led 1-0 at interval.

Mehmood created the second in the 54th minute when his left wing cross broke off-side trap, cleared Muhammad Qasim who went past keeper and pushed the ball into empty net. It was all over in the 69th minute when KRL produced their third goal through a throw-in involving three Asian Games player. Right full Yasir Afridi’s right wing throw was headed-on by substitute Kalim Ullah and Mehmood was on hand to finish the job from hand shake distance.

HBL crumbled in the closing minutes against WAPDA and suffered 0-2 defeat at Peoples Sports Complex, Mauripur Road, Lyari Town. WAPDA managed their 19th win with goals by full back Muhammad Ahmed 76th minute and Zulfiqar Ali Shah 81st minute. It was first match for Ahmed who played in the China Asian Games. NBP played with positive moves to hold Army 0-0 at Sharafi Goth’s Korangi Baloch Stadium, Landhi Town.

Meanwhile, on the request of management of two teams from Punjab – Young Blood, PMC Athletico Faisalabad – two matches are being postponed due to Muharram/Ashura. Afghan FC had to face Young Blood at Govt High School, Chaman while Baloch FC was to collide with PMC Athletico at Nushki Football Stadium today. The postponed matches will now be played on 25 December 2010.

In the same way, Afghan FC v PMC Athletico at Govt High School, Chaman 2.30 PM Kick off and Baloch FC v Young Blood at Nushki Football Stadium 2.30 PM Kick off will now be played on 28 December instead of 13 December.
