Karachi United Youth Football League 2010: Korangi Centre get 3 points in action-packed tie

The Korangi Baloch Stadium in Sharafi Goth, Karachi witnessed Korangi Centre beat Malir Centre 2-1 to go into 2nd place behind leaders North Nazimabad (also on 9 points) on goal difference in the league round of 2010 Karachi United Youth Football League. Lyari Centre has 6 points from 3 games while North Karachi also join Malir at bottom of table with 0 from 3 games.Korangi had striker Muhammad Ali-ul-Haq to thank for his two goals as they edged out struggling Malir in style. For his performance, league administrator Riaz Ahmed declared the player man of the match.

Despite taking an 11th minute lead through Ali-ul-Haq, Korangi faced a determined and resolute Malir side as the tie was poised 1-0 at half time. However in 36th minute, Ali-ul-Haq scored again from an assist by youth international Muhammad Younis to make it 2-0 in favour of Korangi. Malir fought back as the match drew to a close as Yawar, Waqas, Waqar and Mukhtar came close to pulling one back for their side. in 45th minute, Mukhtar made it 2-1 but some splendid goalkeeping by Korangi’s Abdul Haq denied Malir the chance to draw level in dying moments of the game as his side won 2-1 in the end.

Karachi United FC duo of Adeel Rizki and Arshad Jamal witnessed the game. Korangi Centre was coached by former international Abdul Ghani (KPT) and Muhammad Shafique while Malir Centre was coached by former international captain Tariq Hussain (HBL) and Muhammad Ilyas (SGP). Match referee was Babar Khan while match commissioner was Abdul Karim (Chairman Referees and Member of Central Zone).
