Karachi football round up

The Karachi Friendship Day & Night Football Tournament will commence on 4th December 2010 at Golden Star Ground in New Karachi. According to organising secretary Khalid Majeed, 8 teams are scheduled to take part in 2 groups of 4 teams each. The top two from each group will qualify for semis, and the final will decide the winners of the tournament.

The opening tie of tournament will take place between FC Rovers (Malir) and Young Afridi (Baldia) at 4 PM in the evening. Pakistan Football Federation Media Manager, Syed Akbar Ali Wahidi will be chief guest for the game and will inaugurate the tournament.

Hosted by Malir National FC at Old Thana Ground Malir, the All-Karachi Hussain Baloch Memorial Benefit Football Tournament witnessed 5 more matches being decided in Round of 64 according to organising secretary Rafique Baloch.

Mehfooz XI Malir

Sindh Balochistan (Gulshan-e-Iqbal) beat Gul Baloch (Malir) 3-0 thanks to two goals from international Lal Muhammad and one from Ehsaan. Mauripur Baloch beat Shafi XI (Malir) 1-0 thanks to Kaka’s lone goal. Sajidi Muhammadan (Gulshan-e-Iqbal) beat Sahibdad Star (Malir) 3-0 thanks to 2 goals from Fareed and one from Ahmed.

Dilbod Muhammadan (Malir) and Burma Muhammadan (Korangi) gave spectators an exciting goal fest as the Malir side won 5-4. Mohsin, Sunny, Shahid, Waleed, and Haider scored for Dilbod while Ayub, Younis, and Idrees scorers for Burma Muhammadan. Mehfooz XI (Malir) beat Al-Shahbaz (Korangi) 3-0 with two goals from Muhammad and one from Akhtar.

The winning teams all qualified for Round of 32 of the tournament. Referees for the 5 games were Nabi Bakhsh, Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Arif, Abdul Ghani and Abdul Rauf while match commissioner was Naseer Umar and media coordinator Khalid Majeed.
