Karachi Football League 2010-11 to begin from 25 December 2010

Karachi United FC and the Karachi Coordination Committee will organise the 8th Karachi Football League 2010-11 scheduled to start from 25th Dec 2010 at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi. The opening fixture will see defending champions Chanesar Blue take on 2005 winners Young Ansari on Saturday with 3:30 PM Kick-off at the venue.

According to tournament organising secretary Riaz Ahmed, representatives from the Karachi Coordination Committee and from all five Karachi district Zonal FAs have been invited to witness the opening game and ceremonies. Since its inaugural tournament back in 2003, the Karachi Football League will be witnessing its 8th edition. A total of 20 top teams from all district zones of Karachi will be taking part where they will be divided in 2 groups of 10 teams each. Each side will play a total of 9 games against their respective group opponents before the top 4 teams from each group will qualify for the final knock out round.

On 26th Dec, two games will feature 2009 Zone West Championship runners-up Sindh Balochistan (Gulshan-e-Iqbal) face Salar Welfare Centre Malir at 1:30 PM while National Afridi (Baldia Town) face 2008 Karachi Football League bronze medallists Mauripur Baloch at 3:30 PM. Baloch Mujahid Stadium will host 2 games each day throughout the competition.

The inaugural 2003 edition was won by Hyderi Baloch Lyari with Baloch Muhammadan Lyari as runners-up. 2004 saw Lyari Welfare Centre beat Baloch Muhammadan Lyari in the final. 2005 edition saw Young Ansari (Orangi Town) become winners, 2006 was won by Kemari Muhammadan who beat Shahzad Muhammadan in final. 2007 saw Shahzad Muhammad win the final after beat Usmanabad Union. 2008 saw Shahzad Muhammadan successfully defend their title when they beat Nazimabad FC in the final. 2009 saw Chanesar Blue deny Shahzad Muhammadan a hat-trick of titles in the final.
