Gujranwala, the city of ”Pehalwans”. Never have many imagined that football is one of the most popular games in Gujranwala.
The city has produced many players and coaches for the national set-up. A testament is the strong showing of Gujranwala based GEPCO in the intra WAPDA tournaments. One of the best Pakistani Coaches Khalid Butt is also from Gujranwala, he coaches WAPDA F.C. and has led the team to the PPL crown this season.
Club and youth football is also progressing well in the region and football is seen being played at Islamia College, GEPCO ground, Satellite Town Ground and Govt. College Boys, Satellite Town.
The team we are profiling is called Paasban F.C. The team plays at the Govt. Collge Boys, Satellite Town. They have a proper set-up going and train and play regularly. The coaches are sharp, the team is ambitious and participate in many a competition around the region.
The ground as you can see from the video is not at all upto the mark. Neither are they facilitated in any way by any organization. It is self-service and the love of the game that has these boys putting their all for their love that we call football. You cannot keep a good game down!
The club welcomes youth from all over Gujranwala into their set-up and gives them a chance to progress. All our Gujranwala based members who cannot find a place to play the game properly should check out these nice pictures and join the club.
