Aga Khan Gymkhana and Malir Union win in KFL 2010-11

In Group ‘B’ clashes, Aga Khan Gymkhana (Zone Central) opened their Karachi Football League 2010-11 campaign with style after a comfortable 2-0 win over Korangi Gymkhana at Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground Garden West venue while Malir Union beat Burma Mohammadan (Korangi) 2-1 at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi.

Aga Khan Gymkhana striker Sirajuddin was man of the match for his two second half goals against Korangi Gymkhana at AKG Ground. The game was 0-0 at half time but in 69th minute, a header from AKG’s Nauman Ali crashed off the cross bar to find Sirajuddin who headed across the line to make it 1-0. In 75th minute, Sirajuddin scored again as his shot found a deflection off an opposing player to make the score 2-0.

Malir Union and Burma Mohammadan fought a thriller at Baloch Mujahid Stadium as a last-minute goal won Malir Union the game 2-1. In 17th minute, Muhammad Rashid made it 1-0 for Malir Union from a Gulzar pass. The score remained an uneasy 1-0 for almost the entire game before Burma Mohammadan’s Muhammad Idrees tied the scores 1-1 in 83rd minute. The match was seemingly poised to finish all square before a Sher Khan pass found man of the match Afzal Murad who scored a last minute goal to give Malir Union all 3 points as the final whistle blew shortly after.

Referees for the games were Imam Bakhsh and Babar Khan while match commissioner was Abdul Karim (Member Central Zone) and journalist Saleem Arif. Today’s games have former champions Shehzad Mohammadan facing Al-Shahbaz while KFL patrons Karachi United face FC Rovers.
