WAPDA impose 2-1 win over Army in ‘Clash of Titans’

Lahore, 4 November: The clash of the Titans in Pakistan Premier Football League 2010 on Thursday saw Pakistan WAPDA recording precious 2-1 win over Pakistan Army at Municipal Stadium, Saidpur Road, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. The second leg between current top two teams of the 16-team soccer fiesta will be held in ten days time when both the teams will emerged in second leg at Railway stadium, Lahore on 14 November.

Once again as he did the damage against KRL and PAF, new stopper Muhammad Asif opened the scoring in the 42nd minute. WAPDA called him for filling the space left by their stoppers Tanveer Ahmed, Muhammad Ashfaq. Midfielder from Jacobabad Zulfiqar Shah doubled the margin in the injury time of first half as WAPDA led 2-0 at interval. Army pulled one back in the 68th minute through winger Sharjeel Vicky but they failed to utilize advantage of ten men WAPDA who played last thirty minutes without winger Zeeshan Javed –getting marching orders from Referee Jehangir Khan in the 60th minute.

PAF managed to inflict scrappy win solitary goal win over Young Blood at PAF Complex,Peshawar. The all important goal was scored by Striker Amir Khan in the 14th minute.

HBL is still looking for their second win in the event when they drew 1-1 with Afghan FC at Peoples Sports Complex, Mauripur Road, Lyari Town, Karachi. Afghan skipper Jadeed Khan drew first blood when he faked his way in for a dazzling goal in the 13th minute. But the bankers reduced the arrears in the 45th minute when their skillful winger Khayal Muhammad, born at Chaman, utized set-piece for equalizer in the 45th minute. The second session remain barren and both teams earned a point from the cautious clash.

SSGC’s disappointment went on in the league as they underwent their 13th defeat, this time losing to a local club from Balochistan viz Baloch FC, Nushki. SSGC were the first to cope with conditions of the field of KPT – Benazir Sports Complex, West Wharf Road, Kharadar, Karachi and went ahead through their opportunist spearhead Asim Faiz. But Baloch FC made comeback in style and stunned the opposition when midfielder Imran Dost drove the ball home in the 40th minute. It was 1-1 at interval and winger Sana Ullah hammered 87th minute winner, giving Baloch FC their fourth win.
