Thanks to a superb hat trick by striker Faraz Ahmed, Habib Public School won the final of the FPS All-Karachi Inter-School Football Tournament (O-Levels) by beating Bay View Academy 3-2 at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Haideri. Bay View’s goalkeeper Aizaz Nayyar had a nightmare of a game as he was helpless in stopping all three goals scored upon his team. Gul Kayani and Ahmed Javed were the goal scorers for Bay View.
The final burst into life in the 11th minute when Habib Public’s
goalie Asad failed to stop a weak attempt by opposing striker Gul Kayani to give Bay View a 1-0 lead. However in 15th minute Habib Public equalised when Bay View goalkeeper Aizaz spilled an attempt from Faraz Ahmed into his own net. Two minutes later Faraz was again Bay View’s tormentor as his attempt took a wicked deflection from a Bay View player and went into the net fooling Aizaz once again giving Habib Public a 2-1 lead. In the 37th minute, Ahmed Javed showed some superb skill to make it 2-2.
However, just five minutes before the final whistle a Faraz Ahmed freekick from 20 yards out beat Bay View’s Aizaz all ends up as Habib Public again took the lead to make it 3-2. The score remained such till the end, giving Habib Public School the FPS O-Levels title. The referee was Iqrar Hussain alongside assistants Jamil Naz and Abdul Wahid while match commissioner was Yousuf Mansoori.
