Baloch Nushki stun PIA : Army pressurize WAPDA with another win

Lahore, 2 November: Pakistan Premier Football League 2010 is in full swing and four matches were decided in the event. Four-times Champion Pakistan Army managed their 11th win with last-ditch match winner against Young Blood at Municipal Stadium, near Masjid Muhammad Ejaz Khan & Sundra Beauty Saloon, B-Block Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. The all-important goal was scored by their defender Mubashir Hussain in the fourth minute of injury time. It was second goal for Bhakkar-born stopper in the event who earned gold medal in SAF Games 2006 at Colombo.

PAF failed to resist against league leaders WAPDA and underwent 0-2 defeat at PAF Complex, Peshawar. The winners struck once in each session to record 44 points in 17 matches. Once again their new stopper Muhammad Asif inducted his name in scorer list when he rose above everybody to meet the Muhammad Afzal’s 38th minute corner in style. WAPDA led 1-0 at interval and their super sub enhanced the lead two minutes from time when striker Khuda Bakhsh register his eighth goal of the show.

KPT – Benazir Sports Complex, West Wharf Road, Kharadar, Karachi provided a thriller between KPT and Afghan FC, Chaman in 2-2 scoreline. Chaman outfit were unlucky not to win the match when Ahmed Shah fumbled 71st minute spot-kick. The home team were home and dry in the first session with little spearhead Muhammad bin Younus giving them 2-0 lead at interval, hitting back of the net in the 29th and 37th minute.

The second session clearly belong to Jadeed Khan and his team and it was Jadeed who reduced the arrears like skipper in the 77th minute while Ahmed Shah, made amends for penalty-miss, with brilliant equalizer in the 80th minute.

PIA, looking for their tenth title, lacked a cutting edge as it suffered astonishing 0-1 defeat at the hands of lowly-rated Baloch FC at Korangi Baloch Stadium, Sharafi, Karachi. PIA, missing services of Tariq Lutfi (called by PFF for SAFF Women Championship duty), had plenty of possession and kept their shape well but with their stars Shakir Lashari, Zeeshan Ali were off color, the team lacked a cutting edge. It was hard going throughout 90-minutes on a soft and bumpy pitch with neither side producing many scoring opportunities. It took more than 15 minutes for Nushki to get a shot on goal, as Zafar Ahmed  and Sana Ullah proved to be an inefficient partnership.

It was left to the midfielders yet again and Saeed Ahmed had the best chance when he received the ball unmarked about 12 metres from goal after airmen failed to clear a cross from Nasib Ullah and Saeed’s 22nd minute left-footed drive went into the net.
