Afghan awarded walkover after Navy no-shows, Army beat Baloch Nuski 1-0

Lahore, 27 Nov: Afghan FC coasted to 3-0 win over Pakistan Navy when Match Commissioner Shafiq decided the game in favor of home team at Govt High School, Chaman through walk-over verdict. Meanwhile, Baloch FC failed to create any impression infront of their home fans when skipper Imran Hussain’s 26th minute for Army proved to be enough at Nushki Football Stadium.

Faisalabad-born Imran Hussain scored his ninth goal in  as soldiers condemned Nushki to eighth defeat. Earning SAFF Championship cap five years ago, Imran who seemed to have little on when he collected a loose ball in midfield on 26 minutes, romped forward and belted a 30-yard strike past keeper Sher Zaman.

Baloch FC started well and nearly took an early lead when Akber fired just wide. Home team. Playing their second A Division League, nearly equalised after 49 minutes. Nasin UIllah Khan drilled in a 25-yard drive which Army stopper Mohabat did well to tip around the post. Baloch FC, who have now 28 points in 23 matches, dominated the second half but rarely threatened after Zafar Ahmed’s effort until substitute Saeed Ahmed headed over in stoppage time when unmarked at a corner.

Four- times Champion Army might have scored more goals in the tense tie.  The 65th minute saw Sharjeel Vicky made an instant impact with his looping 20-yarder flying over Sher Zaman and behind the net. Army goal keeper  twice denied Habib Ullah and brilliantly kept out Sana Ullah’s shot in the closing stages as the Army held out for a three points. They are now ten points behind league toppers WAPDA on 44 behind 54 of electricitymen.
