Raiders FC win 2010 Flood Relief Cup in Lahore

Raiders annex Flood Relief Soccer Cup: overpower Usmania 2-0

Lahore, 26 Sep:  Jersey No.10 striker Qadir fired twice as Faisal Town’s Raiders FC clinched Fairplay Flood Relief Football Cup at Model Town Football Academy (MTFA) Ground, Lahore. Qadir struck once in each half in 2-0 win over Usmania FC of Sanat Nagar.

The chief guest of the match Dr. Amjab Mustafa, Ex-Nazim, awarded winning trophy to Raiders’s skipper Asif while Usmania had to content with runners-up trophy, received by skipper Akhtar Javaid. PPFL Match Commissioner and Chief Organizer Mian Rizwan Ali, Tahir Hussain were also present on this occasion.

Qadir opened the scoring in the 16th minute when he punished goal keeper Basharat Ali who failed to control the ball that popped out of his hands near goal line and Qadir was on hand to push it over the line. Raiders were 1-0 up at interval and added the second in the 59th minute when winger Usman Manzoor curled the ball from right flank. Usmania back four showed slackness in clearing the ball and Qadir hammered it into left corner.

The final was supervised by Shams Pervez, supported on line by Afzal Bari,  Younus Anthony. Chaudhry Asghar, Naseem Uddin Qureshi acted as Match Commissioner, Referee Assessor respectively.
