KARACHI: Habib Bank Limited (HBL) qualified for the quarter-finals when they defeated Karachi Railways 2-0 in their Group D match of the Sardar Abdul Rahim Shaheed Memorial Football tournament being held here at the Gabol Park Ground on Tuesday.
Habib Ghulam landed both the goals in the 20th and 36th minute. Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) is the other team which has already made it for the last eight from Group D Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) beat Zonal Football Association South (ZFAS) 1-0 to top Group B as Sardar Abdul Rahim Shaheed Memorial Football tournament entered into last eight stage here at the Gabol Park. On Friday, Jaffer Ali scored the lone goal in the dying moments for PIA. PIA will now face Habib Bank in the quarter-final today (Saturday) while ZFA South will lock horns with Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) tomorrow (Sunday). National Bank were sent packing when they were beaten by Pakistan Steel 1-0 in their Group C match of the Sardar Abdul Rahim Shaheed Memorial Football tournament held here at the Gabol Park Ground on Thursday. With the win, Pakistan Steel moved into the last eight. Zonal Football Association West are the other who have already qualified for the quarter-finals. |
