Malik Riaz Hai Naveed had the chance to take an Interview with defender Zeshan 'Zesh' Rehman currently of Queens Park Rangers FC and Pakistani international a few days back, who has confirmed now that he will play the two games against Asian Champions Iraq next week.

FootballPakistan.com: How is your Football in England?

Zesh Rehman: Football in England is going fine, I am gaining more experience all the time and have now worked under 8 managers and played for 4 clubs(Fulham, Brighton, Norwich and Q.P.R) The last season (06-07) season I managed to play 35 competitive games which is full experience. In terms of gaining more experience it was exactly what I needed and one

of the reasons I left Fulham.

I currently have this season and next season remaining on my contract and have played 6 out of the first 10 games. I have not plaed every game, but football is becoming a squad game, so you have to be prepared to be part of a squad and not play every single game.

FPDC: How was your time in Pakistan?

ZR: My time in Pakistan in 2005 was and still is one of the best memories I have in football. Making my International Debut for Pakistan ranks up there making

my Premiership debut for Fulham. The reception I received from the first moment till the last was unforgettable. I felt loved, appreciated, respected and wanted and most of all the interest in football really grew immensely. The only downside was that it meant I missed league games for my then employers

Fulham. However the memories were worth it.Everyone at the P.F.F made me feel welcome and I got on brilliantly with my tea mates and the coaching staff. It was also nice to catch up with family.

FPDC: Will you ever be back in Pakistan?

ZR: Inshallah I will be back to play for Pakistan in the near future. I was hoping to come and play the games against Iraq but with the current situation at my club

(Q.P.R) I had to make a difficult decision and decide to miss these games.

My club are currently in a bad league position and in the process of naming a new manager soon so I felt I needed to be here at this time for the best interests of my career. I‘m sure everyone at the PFF understands and respects the situation I am in. The Club pay my wages and want all players to be happy to be part of a squad. Football is not about individuals its about everyone pulling in the same direction.

Note: Zesh confirmed today that he will play against Iraq beside his club Problems

FPDC: What are your ambitions for Pakistan?

ZR: My ambitions for Pakistan are to get to a world cup one day inshallah. Hopefully we can achieve this while I am still a player, if not then I would love to be the manager that does it. My decision to represent Pakistan was made with getting to a world cup in mind. You have to dream big and remember anything is possible with hard work, faith and belief. I also want to see the whole infrastructure of pakistani football improve and see more players from other countries decide to represent Pakistan. I definately believe its a step in the right direction now that we have 3 more players coming from England coming to play against Iraq. I had regular conversations with Adnan Ahmed to assure him he was making the right decsion. At the end of the day getting to a world cup will take time and something that can be expected right away. Its all about small steps in the right direction rather than one giant step.
